ABOUT US - THE NAVISAFE STORY

Navisafe was founded in 2005 following a near-miss accident involving two boats without lights. It was a dark night and Jo Engebrigtsen and his family were heading back to their summerhouse in a small boat with no 360 degree lantern, just a regular flashlight that they had used for years. Suddenly a big daycruiser without lights “came from nowhere”. The little light offered from the flashlight and being very alert to possible danger gave Jo just a second to avoid his boat and family being hit by the bigger boat.

Every year there are more and more accidents involving boats, the majority with little or no lighting and every year the boats are getting bigger and faster with more and more inexperienced new owners.  Relieved that an accident had been avoided Jo Engebrigtsen knew that only luck was stopping him from becoming one of the victims of a serious boating accident.  Jo also realized that while in the dark it is difficult to see another boat it is even more difficult to see a person who is in the water.

What was needed therefore was a lantern with 360° lights, that was fully waterproof, robust, compact, lightweight and that was able to be effectively fitted on a jacket or a cap.   It had to be small enough to put in your pocket to make sure you always can reach it, on a boat or in the water, yet bright enough to act as a professional boat lantern.   Finally, it has to be very easy to use, with both a strong steady light and an ultra bright emergency flash…...
The idea for Navi light was born.

The Navi light is now sold and used in a growing number of countries and can be purchased for immediate dispatch for Euro39.99 from the Navisafe Online Shop and good retailers.

In March 2007 Navi light was awarded with “design for all” by The Norwegian Design Council;.  Design for all is a special design award also known as universal design and inclusive design. Design for all means developing products and environments that are accessible to the largest people possible, regardless of age and ability.

Both the Norwegian and the Swedish Society for Sea rescue has tested Navi light. And Stein Storlien, Rescue Inspector, Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue (NSSR) said the following when shown Navi light 360º: ”I really like the portable lantern,..  it is one of the better products I have ever seen. I have no problems recommending this lantern.”
